Netskope’s default steering configuration covers standard HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443) traffic. When a web application is served on a non-standard port such as 6443, the Netskope Client will not steer it by default. To ensure that traffic on port 6443 is both steered and decrypted, the administrator must enable the “Steer non-standard ports” option in the Steering Configuration and then add the specific domain and port as a non-standard port entry. This configuration instructs the Netskope Client to intercept and forward traffic on that port to the Netskope proxy for inspection. No additional Real-time Protection policy is required solely for enabling steering on this port, as existing applicable policies will be enforced once traffic is properly steered to the platform.

To identify which cloud storage applications are currently in use but are not HIPAA compliant before implementing a blocking policy, administrators can leverage Netskope’s Advanced Analytics with a targeted query. The correct query syntax for this use case is: app-cci-compliance-cert neq ’HIPAA’ and category eq ’Cloud Storage’. This query uses the Cloud Confidence Index (CCI) compliance certification field to filter out applications that do not hold a HIPAA certification, scoped to the Cloud Storage application category. This allows administrators to see active usage of non-compliant cloud storage applications and assess the business impact before applying an enforcement policy. The other options contain incorrect field names or invalid syntax that would not return valid results in Netskope’s query engine.

When deploying the Netskope Client MSI in a multi-user VDI environment, three specific parameters are required in the installation command. The “mode=peruserconfig” parameter is critical for VDI deployments as it configures the client to store per-user settings independently rather than using shared machine-level configurations, which would conflict in a multi-user shared session environment. The “host=” parameter specifies the Netskope tenant hostname that the client should connect to for configuration retrieval and traffic steering. The “token=” parameter provides the organization identifier that links the client to the correct Netskope tenant. The “installmode=IDP” flag is used for IDP-based authentication workflows and is not universally required. The “autoupdate=on” flag controls upgrade behavior and is optional at initial installation time.

Netskope Cloud Exchange is a modular platform that facilitates integration between Netskope and third-party security tools through a set of exchange modules. The Cloud Ticket Orchestrator (CTO) module is specifically designed to automate the creation of ITSM service tickets based on Netskope alerts and events of interest. This allows security operations teams to automatically generate incidents or trouble tickets in platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira when predefined security conditions are met, reducing manual SOC workload and ensuring timely escalation of critical events. The Cloud Risk Exchange (CRE) module handles risk score normalization, while the Cloud Log Shipper handles event forwarding, and Cloud Threat Exchange manages IOC sharing between security tools.
