ACSCP Exam Dumps : American Certified Supply Chain Professional (ACSCP)

The Advanced Level represents the most comprehensive form of electronic supply-chain coordination because it builds upon the capabilities established at the preceding levels rather than functioning as an isolated technology layer. At this stage, information exchange, communication infrastructure, transaction processing, analytical capability, and supply-chain applications are integrated into a coordinated information environment.

At lower maturity levels, technology may primarily support connectivity or communication between individual participants. An advanced E-SCM environment goes further by integrating information and decision processes across organizational boundaries so that suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers can coordinate activities using shared digital information. Modern research similarly describes the most advanced digital-supply-chain configuration as combining high technological intelligence with extensive supply-chain cooperation.

Therefore, the phrase “collection of all levels” is the decisive clue. It describes the highest-order coordination capability rather than merely the technology or communication foundation supporting it. “Subpar” is not an E-SCM coordination level, while information/communication and technology are enabling layers rather than the complete integrated state.

Inventory holding cost represents the economic cost associated with maintaining inventory over time. Its components commonly include the cost of capital tied up in inventory, storage-related expense, insurance, taxes where applicable, deterioration, shrinkage, and the risk that inventory will lose economic value before it can be sold or consumed. Obsolescence cost therefore belongs directly within the holding-cost category.

Obsolescence occurs when inventory becomes outdated, technologically superseded, unfashionable, expired, or otherwise less valuable while it remains in stock. The longer inventory is held, the greater the exposure to this risk. For products with rapid technology changes, short life cycles, expiration dates, or volatile consumer preferences, obsolescence can represent a substantial portion of total inventory carrying cost.

The other choices relate primarily to replenishment or acquisition activities. Buyer time is associated with placing and managing orders. Receiving cost occurs when incoming material is processed. Transportation cost concerns product movement and, depending on the inventory model, can form part of the fixed replenishment or logistics cost.

Accordingly, C is the correct answer because obsolescence results specifically from carrying inventory over time. This classification is also consistent with standard supply-chain inventory-cost treatment.

In many vendor-managed inventory arrangements, the physical inventory may be located at the retailer while economic ownership remains with the supplier until the product is sold. This structure is closely associated with consignment inventory and allows the supplier to control replenishment while reducing the retailer's working-capital burden.

The essential VMI principle is that the supplier receives downstream inventory and demand information and assumes responsibility for deciding when and how much to replenish. Retaining ownership until final sale strengthens that arrangement because the supplier carries the financial exposure associated with the inventory it places at the customer's location. Once the retailer sells the product, ownership and the corresponding commercial transaction are recognized according to the agreement.

VMI does not require every implementation to use consignment ownership, but the question asks what occurs “quite often,” making option B the established answer. Option A reverses the normal consignment relationship, while C and D do not accurately describe the ownership and sales sequence.

The distinction between inventory location, replenishment control, and legal/economic ownership is important: these do not necessarily reside with the same organization. Standard supply-chain coordination material confirms this VMI ownership structure.
