In HPE OneView, a Server Profile is a logical software-defined representation of a server. A key component of its definition is the Server Hardware Type , which acts as a " schema " describing the physical characteristics of the server (such as the number of processors, drive bays, and mezzanine slots).

Hardware Incompatibility: Because the HPE Synergy 480 and Synergy 660 have different physical architectures, they are classified as different Server Hardware Types. You cannot simply assign a profile created for a 480 directly to a 660 blade; the " Server hardware " dropdown would show the 660 blades as incompatible.

The Migration Path: To perform this migration, the profile must first be unassigned from its current physical hardware. Once unassigned, clicking the Change link next to Server hardware type allows the administrator to select the hardware type that matches the Synergy 660.

Identity Preservation: By changing the hardware type within the existing profile rather than creating a new one, the profile retains its Virtual Identities (WWNs, MAC addresses, and Serial Number). This is critical in environments with manual storage zoning or strict network security, as it ensures the " new " physical server is recognized by the fabric as the " old " logical server.

Validation: After changing the type, HPE OneView performs a validation check to ensure the existing settings (like Mezzanine card mappings) are compatible with the new hardware layout before allowing the profile to be assigned to the new 660 compute module.

The HPE Superdome Flex system supports configurations of up to 32 sockets and 48TB of memory, making it suitable for extremely large-scale and demanding workloads. In contrast, the HPE Superdome Flex 280 has a lower maximum configuration limit, making it more suited for smaller-scale deployments compared to the full Superdome Flex.

To verify whether a virtual storage operation is properly created on HPE Primera or 3PAR using the HPE Storage Integration Pack for VMware vCenter, you would click on the " Virtualization " option in the SSMC (StoreServ Management Console) main menu. This option allows you to manage and monitor storage operations related to virtual environments, including VMware integration.
