NDB supports database and database server VM deployment on NC2 on Azure by using overlay networks created through Nutanix Flow Virtual Networking. A Flow overlay subnet provides the logical network used by the NDB-managed database server VMs while allowing the networking configuration to operate consistently within the NC2 environment. Flow underlay subnets are not the supported choice for this NDB deployment model. Creating a point-in-time clone is the correct nondisruptive recovery action. NDB Time Machine combines snapshots with captured Oracle archive logs to construct a database at a selected recoverable timestamp. Choosing 2:10 PM replays the available logs only through that moment, which precedes the 2:15 PM DROP TABLE. Because the result is a separate clone, the production database remains online and unchanged while the administrator extracts and returns the missing table data. A restore would rewind the source database itself and could interrupt or overwrite its current state. Windows Storage Spaces provides a virtualized storage layer, and NDB manages the restoration by reverting or recovering the specific disks that host the database files and logs. This ensures that the database is restored to its previous state using the snapshot or backup data, while preserving the shared disk configuration integrity. NDB does not replace the source volume or perform additional operations like tail log backups unless explicitly configured.
